Buckeye Lake is located east of downtown Columbus along Interstate 70 north of Buckeye Lake itself. Buckeye Lake is a small village and unincorporated community in Licking County, however, the lake itself is in Licking, Fairfield, and. County. The lake itself is a reservoir created in the 19th century as the Licking Summit Reservoir, an important part of the Ohio and Erie Canal project. However, with the demise of the canal system in the early 20th century, usage of the lake shifted to recreation only.
The Buckeye Lake community has quite a bit of recreational and entertainment options. There are multiple restaurants, dining facilities, camping options, nature preserves, quite a few residential neighborhoods and communities. From parks in downtown grocery stores, markets and entertainment options, Buckeye Lake Village is defined less by boundaries on a map than by the sense of shared values and tightknit community.

The lake itself has several boat rental options, boat docks, and boat ramps, Alexander’s Landing, the Buckeye Lake Marina, pontoon tours, kayaking tours, fishers Marina, fishing options, the Millersport drive-through deli and bait shop. The Queen of the Lake III is a beautiful paddleboat the travels all around the lake and even in wintertime, residents and visitors can enjoy ice skating, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, and iceboating.
